Investment thesis and sizing assignment

Connect a research thesis to a virtual position and a reviewable decision record.

Fictional teaching exercise. Use virtual funds; values and settings are illustrative rather than recommended investments.

Student task

  1. Define a stock/ETF research universe and record the filters.
  2. Write a thesis, counterargument and invalidation condition before entering.
  3. Choose a virtual size and explain its relation to the class mandate.
  4. Reconcile order/fill facts and write a post-observation memo.

Worked illustration

A fictional $100,000 practice account allocates $5,000 to an illustrative $50 share: 100 shares before fees. A later $48 mark produces a $200 unrealized decline; closing changes its realized status. Neither number grades the quality of the thesis by itself.
