Virtual Portfolio

A virtual portfolio is a paper trading account that lets you practice buying and selling stocks without risking real money.

These accounts are fully customizable, allowing you to create and delete them with any amount as often as you like. With a virtual portfolio, you can engage in activities such as trading stocks, viewing open positions, and checking balances, just as you would with a real broker account.

Virtual portfolios provide a simulated environment for testing strategy rules. Broker capabilities, order behavior, fills, costs, and available instruments can differ from simulation and vary by provider and account.

Portfolio Starting Amount

When setting the starting amount for your portfolio, ensure it is sufficient, as you cannot deposit additional cash into a virtual portfolio later. This approach simplifies the interpretation of portfolio performance reports.

If cash could be deposited or withdrawn at random times, the equity value chart would be confusing unless adjusted for these transactions separately. Investfly restricts cash adjustments to streamline portfolio performance reporting.

Visibility

Making your portfolio public allows other users on our platform to view your current open positions, trade history, and performance. This feature can be beneficial if you are marketing yourself within our community.

Simulation notice: A virtual portfolio can help you observe strategy behavior without placing live orders, but it cannot reproduce every cost, delay, liquidity constraint, or market condition and does not validate future performance.

Portfolio Dashboard

Manage your portfolio through the Portfolio Dashboard, accessible from the portfolio list page. For more details, please refer to the Portfolio Dashboard section.

Paper trading is a simulation and differs from live trading. Market liquidity, fills, latency, fees, slippage, and broker behavior can cause materially different live results.

Important: Virtual portfolio performance may differ from real trading due to factors like slippage, market impact, and execution differences.
